The Eildon Pondage Grand Ponderosa Training Day
Join us and be a part of history as The Lake Eildon Rowing Club is hosting its first ever Training Day! Come and attend Saturday 31st of August with your Single Scull for a 12 km row on the pristine Eildon Pondage. This training day will give scullers the chance to get coached by Mario as well as other expert coaches and have a long row in a beautiful setting. At the same time it will promote the Eildon Pondage as an amazing rowing venue and tighten our community for future events to come. This Training day is sponsored by the Murrindindi Shire Council and endorsed by Rowing Victoria.
Give it a go
This is a call to all Rowers. Are you tired of rowing on the same water and have never thought of the possibility of rowing in a beautiful natural setting? Join our Training Day, get coached by some expert coaches and enjoy the great conditions offered by the Eildon Pondage. The 12 km row is 3 laps of the Pondage. Enjoy breakfast of Bacon and egg rolls and a coffee afterwards.
The course layout
The track for the Grand Ponderosa Training Day is a scenic 4 km lap of the Eildon Pondage. The launching place is on the South East side of the Lower pondage. Scullers then proceed in a clockwise direction. Scullers will be grouped into pods and be followed by coaches in coaching boats.
After Training
You may want to explore the mountain bike trails around Lake Eildon or go for a scull on the lake itself, or you may want to try your luck fishing for trophy trout on the Pondage. Eildon Township has a couple of coffee shops an IGA supermarket, a petrol station and an award winning bakery. In the evening we will gather at Pixies on the Billabong, a world famous venue with live music and excellent Mediterranean style food. The dance floor is huge and the music is great, so stay back and meet some of the locals.
Accomodation
There is plenty of accomodation around Eildon to suit every traveller. Holmesglen at Eildon is an award winning venue offers some great rooms and beautiful setting for large groups. There is also the Eildon Pondage Holiday Park, which is right in town next to the Eildon Pondage and the Big4 Breze Eildon Holiday park which is a 5 min drive from town.
